East Fork Carson River (3 Day Trip)
We feel the best way to have a truly lasting experience on a stretch of river is to go on an overnight adventure. To relax under the stars as your guides take care of all your needs as you relax into the scenery. Starting in pine forest and ending in the high desert, with frequent glimpses of distant snow-covered peaks, offering several hot springs near midpoint, and containing many fun rapids, this is one of the finest beginner/ intermediate runs in California.
Our 3 day adventure on the East Fork Carson River covers the exciting upper Wolf Creek Section of class III whitewater as well as the lower 21 mile Hangman’s Run. Experience over 3 days of wilderness enjoyment.
Day One: We pick you up in South Lake Tahoe at one of our pickup locations beginning at 9:00am. Once packed we head towards Markleeville, CA. Unload the vehicles and pack the boats preparing for our multi-day adventure. The first day is filled with a fun class III adventure through the Wolf Creek section of the East Fork of the Carson. Lunch is served on the river on a scenic beach. Camp is set up a few miles downstream of the Hangman’s Bridge (the beginning point for the fullday/ 2 day adventure). The kitchen, main camp area will be set up, and your bags will be ready for you as your boats pull to shore. A short hike from camp leads to breathtaking views of the eastern sierras as you guides educate on the history of the area. A relaxing time spent at camp is also a great choice for those wishing to relax. The smell of dinner fills the air as the sun shines its last rays for the day. Stars fill the sky in ways city dwellers rarely see.
Day Two: Breakfast is served at 8:00am as a new day begins. We load the boats and head out. The Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains rise behind as we travel further into the Nevada Dessert. Fun water and rapids fill the day. Lunch is served on the water. Coming into camp for the second night is a real treat as we camp near natural geothermal hot springs. Dinner is prepared while a relaxing soak in the hot springs releases any thought not pertaining to pure bliss. Side hikes are also available at this camp providing great opportunities for scenic views.
Day Three: Breakfast served at 8:00am as our final day on the water comes. A morning soak in the hot springs is a great way to begin the day as breakfast is prepared. Once back in the boats the river slows down, meandering through a changing landscape of enchanting dessert scenery. Stretches of quiet floats encourage you to breathe in the fresh air and soak in the sun. Side hikes allow opportunities to take in the gorgeous views of the area, While Lunch is served on the river. As we reach Take-out cold refreshing drinks are served.
A trip down the East Fork of the Carson River will sure to give everyone in your group a memorable experience. Its tranquil beauty, fun rapids, and hot springs are perfect for first time rafters and veterans alike. Join us on this exquisite escape into nature’s wonderland.
